Another look at demographics

Once upon a time there was a pandemic. In the beginning of the lockdown, most people with a basic awareness of social responsibility were ok with staying indoors to protect those most vulnerable:
their elders.
But after just a couple of weeks the mood changed. The young were making so many sacrifices to protect the old, and what had they ever done for them?

Suddenly there were two camps: The old

versus the young.

Still, most people knew an old person or two who they liked and kept indoors for their protection.
But a week later the weather got nice. Some of the elderly got fed up with the isolation and decided to go out for a stroll or a picnic.

They shouldn't have, for this opened the floodgates. Aggression and resentment for lost enjoyment came to a peak.
There were confrontations, arguments, even attempts at reconciliation.

Many young people now felt that the time for retaliation had come.
In order to get rid of the problem (the elderly) they attacked retirement homes. Either in person

or through the air vents.

A few weeks later most of the elderly had died (as had some of the young) and the ones who were left didn't feel like going out much.

The world was the same, only maybe a bit more annoying (statistically speaking).

The End
