George Kuchar started - alongside his twin brother Mike -his artistic work in the 1960s. With a couple of a hundred of movies both of them are the Pioneers as well as the Kings of the American Underground/Independent Cinema. In 2011 George Kuchar passed away. He was not only an exceptionally gifted director but also a spellbinding actor. In his movies as well as in his acting you can read his fascination with Hollywood. Even though one might consider his work as a bizarre antipode to the dream factory, but, nevertheless this is where he had acquired his language. Johanna Thompson and Kota Ezawa, artists and filmmakers themselves, acted in a few of George Kuchar's movies. They will present a selection of his works including the rarely shown 16mm films »I, An Actress« (1977) and »The Mongroloid (1978)«, and »HotSpell«, his last video work from 2011. At Image Movement |
