Many things have happened, but I can't go into it here.
Presently, Busan has another film festival going on, the Busan Asian Short Film Festival and for some reason there are several people from the SFAI in town. And other people. Great. And I have to say, there are some great little movies being shown, I'm very pleased.
Yesterday there was a screening of restored 8mm films from Japan. Before getting the ticket we foreigners made sure there were English subtitles. The staff discussed the issue for a minute and then told us there were. English titles? Yes, English and Korean.
Needless to say, there was not a single English subtitle in any of the movies.
One of us ventured to complain about being lied to so blatently. The staff were apologetic and gave her a free shampoo sample.
Korea is a very special place.
